Mental slavery

"Emancipate yourself from mental slavery... none but ourselves can free our mind"
I heard that quote and my mind took a paradigm shift. It sunk so deep and resonated so well within me that I Cant forget what that exact moment looked and felt like.
That day, i realised we limit ourselves,  we set boundaries when there actually isnt any boundary. We hold our minds in captivity, allow what the world says to be our guide and 'think as think we should'. Most of us are held captive as mental slaves. We never allow ourselves to dream or look beyond the ordinary.  We see only the obstacles and not the possibilities. We allow our situations determine us, we allow people think for us, we become solely the product of influence. We never allow ourselves look within us, break free of all 'limitations' and create our own fate/reality.

Alot of us are consumed with negative thoughts, we don't believe we could amount to anything,  we don't allow ourselves feel confident in our gifts and dreams. We allow the negative words of people take root deep within us.
But I have learnt that only us can break us free of negative thoughts. We alone can emancipate ourselves from mental slavery. The responsibility to break out, take our lives in our hands and create our reality is ours.
The Bible says 'As a man thinketh so he is'...
We become whatever goes on in our minds. We think, begin to believe it and then become it.
Today I urge you to channel your mind to positivity and possibilities.
God has given us the gift of dreams and choices. All you have to do is dream it, believe it and choose/make decisions that will help you achieve it. There's nothing you cant be. You can do anything (good or bad).
Your life is in your hand. God guides but ultimately you choose.
PS: Have you read my last post? Its titled "Don't become the stumbling block to the message you preach". Click HERE to read it.
P.P.S: There's this awesome radio show i follow. It's called the Delsu Radio show, it airs every friday at 6pm on the 360radio app which is available on playstore for android phones. The hot topic on today's episode was 'is NYSC still necessary? I called to give my opinion and i intend to write it here for you guys to see, so stay tuned.
P.P.P.S: I love biochemistry.... its compound and all but when you understand it, its so interesting. (I don't even know why I added this part).
IMPORTANT: Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a position or responsibility.  Have you ever felt your 'purpose' or duty or responsibility is bigger than you? Do you ever feel not good or strong enough? Do you sometimes want to drop the work and just do nothing because it feels too big (even though you know deep within you that you are capable?).
If you have experienced any of this or something like this or you are going through it now, please share. I'm sort of it that position and I want to hear other people's experiences (I heard it becomes easier when you know you aren't alone).
So kindly email me your story at pntimi@hotmail.com (I may post it on the blog) OR write it as a comment here.
Oh, have you joined my BBM Channel yet? The pin is C00402554. Looking forward to having you there.
Much love.

  2. Nice post Bubba, mehn i can so relate to it Baby mi, as often times it is us Humans that limit our selves with our thoughts. Like you said, We set limits that do not exist and hence might go through life not living at our utmost capabilities. Okay, so lemme gist you, to me that NYSC thingy is a rope used to tie the Nigerian Youths, as many believe that without it, one cannot succeed, cannot make it, cannot experience Financial freedom, but Bubba, its all shades of a BIG fat lie. I haven't served, and GOD has shown me that there is really no limits to the abilities he made me with.

    LEADERSHIP.

Peace, when i was 14, i was asked to lead a couple of zones in R.C.C.G church as a Provincial youth president. mehn to say i was Overwhelmed by the post was to say the least Baby mi, i was scared as hell, and i sheepishly turned down the position without a thought. Today, i live with it as one of my BIGGEST regrets. You see leadership is why we blog, why we live, why we are here... TO INSPIRE, to serve, anmd to make a difference. I wish i had taken up the responsibility when i was 14, but i didnt. sadly.

Sometime later in that Year, i was by GOD'S grace trusted again with another responsibility, and that I took up without thinking again (Peace I am a terrible decision maker, I hardly think but Do), and mehn! GOD did wonders, and all the glory went to him. But the biggest post i have ever taken was in Uni.. mehn i was trembling on day 1 of the rehearsal, but right after i was appointed President, I went to the Chapel (I am Catholic) and laid on the ground there, and I told GOD that he would take all the glory, if our regime was a success, and my! he did... We had a swell 12 months with me as the slave of the theatre troupe in IMSU. :) So Peace take up the challenge, but when you are there, remember that you were called to serve, and not to lead, and that it wasnt your birth right, but an opportunity to touch lives... You are a born leader Bubba, i See it. Pheeewww now this is a post in a post :) Cheers baby mi. :)
