When Life Gives you Lemons, Make a Lemonade

Exams were to start in three days. Dayo Had just finished Revising the course he was to write first, when his hostel mates started calling those interested in Playing football to come down to the field. Dayo, quickly ran downstairs, He felt football after three hours of intense reading was a good way to relax.

Few minutes after the second Half, Dayo noticed that an opponent had dribbled his players, leaving him and a teammate who was playing defense. Much to his dismay, his opponent successfully passed his defender and sent the ball straight to the goal post, in other to save the goal, Dayo had to perform a stunt which required him to dive and stretch.
He caught the ball successfully and fell on his right hand. Trying to stand up he heard a cracking sound from his right hand and he screamed.

An hour later, Dayo woke up - on an hospital bed - to his nightmare. His right hand was casted.
Dayo was is shock as much as pain. He asked the doctor when the cast would be removed and he was told in two weeks.
"TWO WEEKS?, but I Have an exam in Three days" Dayo queried
"You are a Rightie?" The Doctor asked
"Yes sir" He replied almost in tears
"Sorry, You won't be able to write your exams". the doctor said
That felt like a death sentence. He was in 300L, failure in his exams could cost him an extra year.

He was discharged almost immediately but with a casted hand. All through the journey back to the hostel, he was thinking of his exams. He knew he couldn't afford to Fail.
"I'm Going to write my Exams one way or the other" He told himself.

Filled with courage and Faith in God, He told his Friend to get him a 2D exercise book and a copy of "my first copy book" - the books used to teach nursery and primary pupils how to write. Yes! He was going to train his Left hand to write.

By Monday Morning he had done the best he could do. He was determine to write and PASS his exams.
Practically all His course mates and everybody that saw him that morning pitied him. But he was determined and he trusted that God was on his side.

After writing the first paper, he understood the power of determination. Though there were difficult times like when he had to punch the calculator first with one hand (his left) and then put what was calculated on paper with the same hand. He had to think before he wrote and not the regular 'think as you write'. Several times he was fed up with writing but he kept enduring till he finished all my papers.

When he got to the hospital the day my cast was to be removed, he saw the doctor that told me that he won't be able to write my exams.
"Hey doc, I wrote my exams" Dayo told him proudly
"How?" He asked in shock
"With my Left hand"
The doc. was stunned. He left without saying a word.

When the results came out, it wasn't his best but he had no carry over.

Storms would Come, but what matters is your attitude towards it. It our choices/response and not the events or situations that produce Results.
Don't let that issue define you and your outcome, You are in charge. Develop a positive attitude. Find the best in everything. Look for a way out. It's your choice.
Where there is a will, there is way. With your determination and Faith In God you can move mountains. Don't take it when someone says 'You can't do it'. Erase the word 'Impossible' from your vocabulary.
When Life gives you a lemon make a lemonade.

  2. Thanks for this post. Giving up on something because people say it's worth giving up is a wrong idea for me. When men say it's impossible, God shall say it's possible. So why fret on the words of mere mortals?
