Stop Learning!

"The soul always knows what to do to heal itself, the challenge is to silence the mind."
Alot of us has gotten so engrossed in learning that we have stopped thinking. We have gotten so accustomed to listening and picking people's ideas and stories that we have stopped looking at life from our own perspective.
Totally new stuffs are not created anymore, new ideas and theories are not shared anymore, everyone is busy recreating or redesigning something already created or spreading already existing ideas and theories.

We read books upon books, watch inspiring videos, and all that without us taking time out to think or look within ourselves. We are all learning but no one is thinking anymore, no one is creating anymore. Everything we see now is an edited, advanced or redesigned version of a previous thing or idea. No more originals. Little or no creation.
We are all copying ourselves, competing for the same market when we could carve out our own unique niche if only we take time out, sit down, think and look within ourselves.
Let's get this straight:
I'm not against learning and developing one's self. I'm actually a sucker for books and inspirational videos (I just spent the last two hours watching TEDx videos) but what I'm saying is we shouldnt spend time taking in people's views and ideas without us thinking or trying to see things from our own perspective.
I'm saying let's spend more time looking within than without for answers. Let's get our thinking and creative caps on so others can benefit from our ideas too.
Maybe if you stilled your mind and focused it on something, you would solve a problem, postulate a theory, create something, get a billion dollar idea, or find a topic to write a book on.
Even in relating with God; maybe just maybe if we meditated a little more we'd get that revelation. I believe a quiet mind is the perfect avenue for God to speak to us (yea, I know He can overshadow our raging thoughts and speak to us if He wants to but I also know the amazing possibilities a quiet mind offers).
When i say lets get thinking, I don't mean allow your mind wander in several places. I just mean, quiet your mind and focus on something. It could be the core subject of the book you just read or that bible verse that called out to you while studying or that problem in your environment that's been bothering you or that school or job work that you cant seem to have a break with. You may never know the possibilities inside of you, the genius in you, or the depth of understanding you can get until you quiet your mind, focus and think.
Let us begin to look within us than without.
Oh please! Don't Stop Learning o. Dont mind the post title, Learn, Think and grow.

  2. Just like Science- Engineering,or Christianity,
its not in the knowing, but in the application of the word/knowlegde .
Thinking is definately the process in between it.
    It makes a Big difference.

  4. Great post. We also need to take the perspective of God's word from people without digging into the word ourselves. Someone say pants are bad, we take them off, the next says they are ok, we pick them back up. How about finding God's perspective for ourselves?

  6. Truly Bubba, our generation no longer CREATES, no wonder why we are called the Copy Paste generation. :) I mean even my B.Eng Project was copy paste, and shout to my biggest contributor: Oga Boss google for being there for me. :)

People only struggle to learn more on what another has created, and this trend is leading us to a kinda grid lock society (especially in Africa). Oh well, we are the Facebook generation Peace, we are being led by crowd and not by thoughts. :)
