PEACE of mind and heart

Being someone that easily gets depressed (a situation I get from being a melancholic - but you know I read somewhere that geniuses have the tendency to get overly depressed, hehehe! I'm just saying tho *wink*), I have learnt to appreciate the times where my heart is at rest and I have peace of mind.
Discovering the joy and warmness that is embedded in the having peace, I began to search for how I can attain a Lasting peace as I became tired of the mood swings - the joy today and  weight tomorrow; the peace today and the chaos tomorrow and as always, in the midst of my search Jehovah found me (as always. the guy is just super dope yea?) and taught me that peace of mind and heart is a necessity in the life of a believer as we cant function well or enjoy life or the Joy of our salvation if we are troubled and he said he's possible for one to have Peace 24/7, everyday of every week of every year, forever even in the midst of the worst of storms.

The lessons I have learnt on Peace is what I want to share with you on this post. So relax and enjoy the ride.

First of all, What really is Peace?
A state of Peace is a state of tranquillity and Calmness. Peace is liken to a quiet, undisturbed, non-raging, calm environment. Peace is the Opposite of War. Peace is the absence Of a raging storm or a battle.
When one is at Peace it means you are At rest with No worries or troubles. When you find Peace, you find calmness, Joy - deep sated Joy - and you find rest.

Now why is Peace a necessity in our lives?
When you Lack peace, You are practically in Chaos. You can't think straight, Your Health declines because you are stressed out (and probably not eating well or eating too much) and you have a lot to worry and fret about.
When you Lack Peace, You are certainly not calm. When you find yourself fretting over something, you find it hard to concentrate on anything or anyone and you certainly would be no fun to be around.
When your Heart is troubled and Your mind is not at rest, it becomes hard for The Holy Spirit to reach out and minister to you, studying and praying because harder and you'd definitely not feel good enough to help anyone who maybe in need your help.
You seeing the importance of Peace yet?

The Holy Spirit is a sweet gentle Spirit and just as he doesn't function well/at all in an unclean heart and mind, so he finds it difficult to operate in someone who is troubled. He can't minister to you effectively if you are totally chaotic and if he does minister, you most likely won't hear His gentle still Voice because your mind is in a thousand and one places.

This world is tough.
Life brings it's challenges and troubles and Once in a while, someone or something (e.g. Your Job or academics) makes you worry.
We are faced with lots of different situations daily and so over thinking, analysing and over reasoning things has become a norm. As life evolves, multitasking has becomes everybody's thing, thus, we mostly have our minds in more than one place at a time. Not to forget, the temptations and trials we face that threaten to break us and lead us down the hill and If you are like me, the depression that comes from every once in a while.

The peaceful times we have (no matter how short lived it may be) are what keeps us sane and re-energizes us to face tomorrow's storms. The quiet times we have (in our Spirit, heart and mind) are the best times God teaches us. We need to be at peace to be able to reach into our spirits to draw out the strength, wisdom and understanding we need to face life's trials. We need a rested mind to effectively help other people, we need the joy in peace to enable us spread the gospel and live the gospel. Peace comes with healing, peace comes with reassurance, peace brings joy, peace bring strength.
Shoot! I love my name (don't be jealous okay?)

How can we attain this Peace?
It is simply By Trusting God.

Faith brings Peace.
Regardless of what you may be going through at a time, you can feel God's Peace, the calmness and deep sated Joy and assurance in You life if you only Trust God.

Philippians 4:6&7 says "Don't fret, be worried or anxious or troubled over anything. Don't let yourself become to stressed out, don't bother reasoning out or over analysing every situation but Instead Tell God about It in Prayer and don't forget to Thank him (remember Thanksgiving is a sign of Faith). And when you do this, You will experience God's Peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand." (My paraphrased version)

Recently during one of my depressed times, Someone (A big shout out to @eloxie, God bless your heart big sist. Much love) reached out to me and during the phone conversation (which by the way was one sided as I couldn't get myself to talk *covers face*) she (or rather God through her) taught me what PEACE THAT PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING truly means. This lesson is what I'd use to end this Post.

"When God says he'd give you Peace that transcends all understanding he doesn't just mean that he'd give you the kind of Peace that your Human Mind and Fleshy Heart cannot fully understand but He also means that He'd give you peace regardless of whether you understand your situation or not. He may not clarify your thoughts on what is going on in your life, you may still not get reasonable answers to your questions, the storm may still be raging but that not withstanding, The Lord will fill your heart and Mind with Peace (if you trust him to). So, Don't bother about what life throws your way, don't fret, don't worry, You can have that Peace that Jesus came to give us, that Peace that Apostle Paul so passionately prayed for and wanted all churches to have If you decide to Trust in God. He may give you understanding about your plight or he may not, whichever way you'd find Peace in Jesus. It is possible for the Peace of God to constantly fill your heart, your mind and certainly your spirit even while you are in a storm or whether or not he gives you understanding of the situation."

  3. Wow! well done Peace. God bless you.

Truth is many times, we are seeking for 'understanding of our circumstance, some rationality to what God is actually doing to bring us peace. That is natural, who wouldn't be at peace when he fully understood? But God promises us peace beyond our understanding, meaning that we do not need to understand to have peace. God's peace (Righteousness, peace and joy in the holy Ghost) is a kingdom attribute and it comes to us when we receive it by faith. Thanks Peace for this post. Keep shinning.

  4. The best part of your blog is saying serenity is not freedom from the storm but peace amidst the storm. Sometimes it seems I have it the other way around
